  • Zdulfika was set to marry in July, adding to the tragedy of his untimely death, and the community has shown immense support for his grieving family.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officer Zdulfika Ahakasah lost his life in the line of duty while chasing an errant motorcyclist on the Seletar Expressway (SLE). The 26-year-old officer, who was deeply committed to ensuring road safety, was set to marry his fiancée in July, making the tragedy even more poignant.

The incident occurred on the morning of June 4, 2024, when Zdulfika was attempting to stop an 18-year-old motorcyclist who was evading law enforcement. According to the Singapore Police Force, the chase led to a fatal accident involving a motorcycle, two lorries, and a van near the Tampines Expressway exit. Zdulfika was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The Chase and the Crash

Dashcam footage shared on social media platforms, including the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, shows the intense moments leading up to the crash. Zdulfika can be seen pursuing the motorcyclist along the road shoulder. The motorcyclist, initially appearing to slow down, suddenly swerved to the right, cutting into the path of a lorry. Zdulfika followed closely but tragically crashed into a road divider, resulting in his fatal injuries.

Arrest and Investigation

The 18-year-old motorcyclist was arrested for multiple offences, including failing to stop when ordered by an authorized officer, dangerous driving, riding without a valid license, possession of scheduled weapons, and suspected drug-related offences. Senior Assistant Commissioner Daniel Tan, Commander of the Traffic Police, emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "This was a tragic loss of life of a fellow law enforcer who died while executing his duty to keep our roads safe. The police will investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible face the full brunt of the law."

A Life Cut Short

Zdulfika Ahakasah was not only a dedicated officer but also a beloved member of his community. His untimely death has left a void in the lives of his family, friends, and colleagues. An LTA spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying, "Zdulfika was a valued member of our enforcement team. We are in contact with his family to extend our condolences and full support during this difficult time."

Adding to the heartbreak, Zdulfika was looking forward to his wedding in July. A relative shared on social media that the officer had been eagerly preparing for his big day, making his sudden demise even more tragic. The community has rallied around his family, offering prayers and support during this challenging period.

The Importance of Road Safety

This incident underscores the critical role that enforcement officers play in maintaining road safety. Zdulfika's dedication to his duty serves as a reminder of the risks that law enforcement officers face daily. The LTA and Traffic Police continue to work together to ensure that such incidents are thoroughly investigated and that justice is served.

Community Support and Condolences

The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming. Messages of condolences and tributes have flooded social media, with many expressing their gratitude for Zdulfika's service and sacrifice. The LTA has also pledged to support his family through this difficult time, ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance and care.

The tragic death of LTA enforcement officer Zdulfika Ahakasah is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by those who work tirelessly to keep our roads safe. As the investigation continues, the community stands united in mourning the loss of a dedicated officer and supporting his grieving family. Zdulfika's legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations of law enforcement officers to uphold the values of duty, courage, and commitment.
