FTC ends challenge to Microsoft activision deal

- The FTC has officially dropped its legal challenge against Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, ending a nearly two-year antitrust battle.
- A federal court previously ruled in Microsoft’s favor, and a subsequent appeal by the FTC was denied by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in May 2025.
- Microsoft welcomed the decision, which solidifies its control over major gaming franchises and concludes one of the largest tech merger reviews in history.
