  • Go Green SG 2024 will feature behind-the-scenes demos by PUB and plastic upcycling initiatives.
  • The event aims to educate and inspire the community on environmental sustainability and public hygiene.
  • Activities will include workshops on composting, sustainable design, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

The 2024 edition of Go Green SG is set to captivate Singaporeans with a diverse array of sustainability-focused activities from June 12 to July 14. This year, the event will feature behind-the-scenes demonstrations by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and innovative plastic upcycling initiatives, aiming to inspire and educate the community on environmental sustainability.

Led by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Go Green SG is a national movement that encourages collective action towards a cleaner and greener Singapore. The inaugural event in 2023 saw over 70,000 participants and 300 activities, and the 2024 edition promises to build on this success with even more engaging and educational experiences.

One of the highlights of Go Green SG 2024 will be the behind-the-scenes demos by PUB. These demonstrations will offer a unique glimpse into the inner workings of Singapore's water management systems, showcasing the innovative technologies and practices that ensure a sustainable water supply. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the science behind water treatment and conservation, gaining a deeper appreciation for the efforts that go into maintaining Singapore's water security.

In addition to the PUB demos, Go Green SG 2024 will also feature a range of plastic upcycling initiatives. These initiatives aim to address the growing issue of plastic waste by transforming discarded materials into valuable products. Through hands-on workshops and interactive exhibits, participants will learn about the process of plastic upcycling and how they can contribute to reducing plastic waste in their daily lives.

"Plastic upcycling is a crucial step towards a zero-waste future," said a spokesperson from the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. "By turning waste into resources, we can significantly reduce our environmental impact and move towards a more sustainable future."

The event will also include activities related to public hygiene, in line with MSE's declaration of 2024 as the Year of Public Hygiene. These activities will emphasize the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and highlight the role of individual actions in promoting a healthy and sustainable environment.

Marina Bay Sands, a key partner of Go Green SG 2024, will host a series of workshops and tours focused on sustainable practices. Visitors can explore the sustainability features of the ArtScience Museum and participate in workshops on topics such as composting and sustainable design. These activities aim to inspire participants to adopt eco-friendly practices in their own lives and contribute to a greener Singapore.

The Go Green SG 2024 event is a testament to the power of community engagement in driving environmental sustainability. By bringing together individuals, businesses, and government agencies, the event fosters a collective effort towards a cleaner, greener, and more climate-resilient Singapore.
